Paolini faces Krejcikova in unexpected final showdown

On Saturday at Wimbledon, surprise finalists Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova will face off in a thrilling duel to determine the new women's tennis champion.

Paolini is fighting to become Italy's first Wimbledon singles champion, while her opponent hopes to continue the Czech Republic's proud record at the championships.

At 1.62 meters tall, Paolini had never won a main tour match on grass until this summer, making her the shortest Grand Slam singles champion in the Open Era.

Krejcikova has been plagued by illness and injury, winning just three matches in the five months leading up to the tournament.

The two 28-year-olds have taken advantage of the Queen's open draw and are one game away from winning the famous Venus Rosewater Dish. Whoever wins on Saturday will also be guaranteed to become Wimbledon's newcomer for the seventh consecutive year.
